RIGA: VEF CULTURE PALACE RE-OPENED

VEF Culture Palace has always been the largest cultural institution in Latvia and has been declared a monument of arts of national importance. The massive building located in uptown Riga was constructed in 1960 and since then it has served as a venue for various cultural events - international meetings, congresses and art exhibitions.

The traditional grand hall with a large balcony has more than 800 seats while the chamber hall offers convenient seating for 200-250 guests. Several smaller premises are available as well and, last not least, the majestic two-storey foyer can also be used for standing receptions and various other events.

The building has been designed in a manner that makes it possible for several events to take place at the same time without disturbing each other. In the process of renovation the functionality of the premises has been improved, also modernising the acoustics and equipment.
